1. Welcome to the GSS Wiki

This is the home of the specifications published by XDI.org for the global XRI registration and resolution services it offers to the public. These specifications cover all aspects of the operation of Global Registry System (GRS), including:

2. Background

The first version of the GSS was published as a set of wiki pages beginning in November 2004. On March 30 2005, the XDI.org trustees authorized GRS contractors [WWW]Cordance and [WWW]NeuStar begin implementation. This resulted in additional feedback, both from GRS implementation and the [WWW]EGS (Early Global Services) beta program that begin in October 2004. In April 2006 the specifications were collated into a single PDF document plus a set of appendicies.

3. Current Status

The GSS V1.0 was approved by the XDI.org trustees on June 7, 2006. The final approved documents are posted below. (Any future versions will carry a new version identifier and date.)

4. Zip Files

For the convenience of i-brokers and other parties who need to download many of the following documents, they are provided here in two zip files.

4.1. Zip File #1: I-Broker Executable Documents

The first zip file contains the PDF versions of two documents (GSS Appendicies F and I) that need to be executed by an i-broker to apply for XDI.org accreditation. See the instructions in the I-Broker Application document.

4.2. Zip File #2: Reference GSS Documents

The second zip file contains the PDF versions of all the other GSS documents listed below, including the main GSS specification document and all other appendicies except: a) those in the first zip file, and b) Appendix B, Fee Schedules, which must be downloaded separately as it is revised from time to time.

5. The Main GSS Specification Document

The main GSS specification is a 69-page file posted in PDF and Word formats. It includes Appendix A (Definitions). All other Appendicies are maintained as separate physical documents (see below).

6. Appendicies

There are a total of 13 appendicies to the GSS. Appendix A, Definitions, is included with the main GSS document.

6.1. Appendix B: Fee Schedules

6.2. Appendix C: Global Privacy Policy

6.3. Appendix D: GRS Dispute Resolution Policy

6.4. Appendix E: GRS Dispute Resolution Procedures

6.5. Appendix F: I-Broker Accrediation Application

6.6. Appendix G: Contact Agent Accrediation Application

6.7. Appendix H: Contact Data Custodian Application

6.12. Appendix M: GRSP Service Level Agreement

7. Sample I-Broker Policies

The following sample i-broker policies were prepared by XDI.org to simplify the process of i-brokers developing data protection policies that conform to the requirements of Section 2.4 of the GSS V1.0. Note that these policies are samples only and must be adapted by each i-broker to their own unique requirements.
