1. Introduction

The agreements listed herein serve as the base agreements for the relationships between GRSPs, Registrars, and Registrants.

2. Registrar Agreement

The following MS Word document is a second draft of the Registrar agreement. It will be further modified as necessary to reflect any changes to the GSS Policies (GssPolicies) as they are reviewed and approved by XDI.ORG.

3. XDI.ORG Global Terms of Service

The following link is to the XDI.ORG Global Terms of Service as originally established for the [WWW]Early Global Services Program. This will be further modified as necessary to reflect any changes to the GSS Policies (GssPolicies) as they are reviewed and approved by XDI.ORG.

Note: Language must be added to incorporate the non-ASCII character normalization provision in GssPolicies/InamePolicies.

4. XDI.ORG I-Trust(tm) Contract

4.1. Purpose

The purpose of the XDI.ORG I-Trust(tm) Contract is to provide a basic shared statement of agreement among the members of an opt-in open global trust network that enables secure, private data sharing over electronic networks between people and organizations anywhere in the world. Members of the XDI.ORG I-Trust(tm) Network may choose to extend more specific XDI link contracts from this base contract.

4.2. Principles

The five core principles of the XDI.ORG I-Trust(tm) Contract are statements of both the rights and the obligations of members of the XDI.ORG I-Trust(tm) Network.

  1. Data Rights: Every member agrees to honor the right of every other member to control the sharing, usage, and retention of shared data for which the member is the authority; to control the communications they send and receive; to freely negotiate the data sharing agreements in which they participate; and to use the data sharing service provider(s) ("i-broker") of their choice.

    1. I agree to honor the fundamental right of every network member to control their data and communications;

    2. I affirm that each member can freely decide what (if any) of their data can be shared with, used, and/or retained by any other member or organization;

    3. I affirm that each member can negotiate as a peer with any other member regarding the treatment of their data; and

    4. I affirm that each member can freely choose the data sharing service provider(s) ("i-broker") of their choice.

  2. Data Protection: Every member agrees to protect the identity, security, and privacy of any data shared with them by other members, and to use and retain the shared data only as permitted by the terms of the applicable data sharing agreement(s).

    1. I agree to protect the identity, security and privacy of all data shared with me according to the terms of the applicable data sharing agreement(s).

    2. I agree to use and retain data shared with me only as permitted by the terms of the applicable data sharing agreement(s).

  3. Truth-in-Communications: Every member agrees to be clear, complete, and truthful with regards to the purposes, permissions, and rights associated with any electronic communication or data interchange with another member or group of members.

  4. Interoperability. Every member agrees to interoperate with other members to share data according to openly published XDI.ORG or other public standards.

  5. Accountability. Every member agrees to be accountable for their obligations under this contract and any data sharing agreement negotiated with another member; to resolve disputes over compliance by an open, equitable adjudication process agreed to by all parties (or, in the absence of such agreement, by a process specified by XDI.ORG); to provide truthful identity information where needed to enforce such accountability; and to uphold the integrity of the I-Trust network and the I-Trust mark.

    1. I agree to be accountable for my obligations as a principle of this contract including all agreements with other members.

    2. I agree to resolve disputes in an open adjudication process.

    3. I agree to provide accurate and complete identity data when required for enforcability of this contract or other data sharing agreements into which I enter.

    4. I agree to uphold the integrity of the I-Trust network and the I-Trust(tm) mark.
