1. Motivation

These policies specify reserved Global I-Names. They are motivated by the need to:

Reserve a common set of generic Global I-Names for use by the public in illustrating or documenting global XRIs while avoiding conflicts with actual registered XRIs.
Identify XDI.ORG and its own functions in a manner that makes them easily accessible by all members of the XDI Community.
Identify a GSP and its operations in a manner that makes them easily accessible by all members of the XDI Community.

2. Reserved Public Global I-Name Policy

The following Global I-Names are reserved by XDI.ORG for public use in documentation and examples (so as to avoid conflicts with actual registered XRIs or confusion with common HTTP URIs) and MUST NOT be registered in any Global I-Name Registries.

In addition to the exact names listed below, which per the XRI specifications are case-insensitive, the plural form of each I-Name (i.e., adding "s", "es", or "ies") is also reserved.

In addition, any I-Name that begins with the string "example" followed by a logical separator characters dot ("."), colon (":"), or hyphen ("-") is also reserved and MUST NOT be registered in any Global Registry.
