1. Introduction

This section specifies the open standard technical specifications from external standards bodies that govern the GSS.

2. OASIS XRI Specifications

All Global I-Name, Global I-Number, and Public Authority Services in the V1 GSS MUST conform to the OASIS XRI 2.0 Committee Draft specifications published by the [WWW]OASIS XRI Technical Committee. Note that the current Committee Draft specifications, listed on the [WWW]XRI TC home page, were approved by the XRI TC on March 14, 2005 and are currently in an OASIS public review period.

3. OASIS XDI Specifications

The OASIS XDI specifications are still under development by the [WWW]OASIS XDI Technical Committee. As such the V1 GSS does not require the use of XDI. Future versions of the GSS will incorporate XDI interfaces for all Global Services, and parallel interfaces will be maintained for a commerically reasonable period to allow i-brokers to transition to XDI.

4. IETF HTTP Specifications

All interactions the V1 GSS that require the use of HTTP MUST conform to [WWW]RFC 2616, Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1.

5. IETF EPP Specifications

All V1 Global Registry Services shall operate Extensible Provisioning Protocol (EPP) provisioning interfaces conformant to RFC 3730-3735:

The EPP protocol interfaces will support special mappings to accommodate XRI I-Names and I-Numbers as specified in GssOpSpecs.

The Global Registry will implement support for the IETF PROVREG working group's protocol specification, and will track revisions as these RFC's are revised/replaced.

It is expected that a parallel provisioning interface shall be established to support provisioning specifications of the [WWW]OASIS XRI Data Interchange (XDI) TC when ratified by OASIS Members, and reasonable developement, testing, and interoperability activities has occured. After such time, the EPP interfaces will be deprecated.
